Hi, we’re Jen & Jax.
We met in the U.S. Air Force, did our first paid session together (a wedding) in 2013, and moved to rural Maine in 2018 after retiring. That’s when a shared passion became a business.
JEN JACKSON
The one fussing over your light.
Portraits are Jen’s favorite. She adjusts the light and the pose until you see yourself the way the people who love you do. She’s a member of Professional Photographers of America and the Maine Professional Photographers Association.
ROD “JAX” JACKSON
The calm in the middle of the chaos.
Senior sessions are Jax’s favorite, whether that means hiking to an overlook, walking downtown or chasing golden hour on your home field. He likes to start with a quick phone call (old school, he knows) so you get a feel for him first, and he’ll walk you through everything so nothing catches you off guard.
WHY OPEN FRAME
Room for the real stuff.
An open frame leaves room for the laughing, the wind in your hair and the little brother photobombing. At home it’s the two of us, three kids and a menagerie of cats and dogs, so we know how quickly these years go. We started Open Frame Portraits to make the kind of photos families frame, gift and hand down.
TWO PHOTOGRAPHERS, IN PRACTICE
Either of us can take your session, which means more open dates. On bigger sessions we both come: one shoots while the other wrangles.
